10/24 + 10/25: Planters (handbuilding with clay)
6-9 pm, Mon + Tues
Oct 24, Oct 25
at Make Space Workshop & Classroom, St. Augustine FL
This 2 night workshop is for serious dirt lovers. Students will be provided with 12 lbs of tan speckled clay. They may choose to work as large as the kiln allows, make many teeny plant homes, or any variations in between.
The first night of class will be a crash course into the fundamental pinching, coiling and slab rolling techniques of handbuilding. We will get to work right away on our planters, free form or using available slab templates and return the next evening to add any finishing touches (drip trays, attachments, ect) or surface designs (colors, textures, carving, ect.) I will share some of the techniques I use for surface design and encourage you to try on your own!
Due to the intended use of these creations, planters will remain completely unglazed. They will be fired twice by Breanne at the studio and available for pickup in approximately 3-4 weeks. This time frame is to allow for slow drying, larger items will take longer.
